ABBA/MECHATRONICS CCTV range covers basic kits through to large commercial/industrial applications of varying complexity. The specification of the right camera for a project is not always the easiest of processes. There are many factors that have to be taken into account: technical specifications, the applications and its requirements as well as any physical constraints the site may impose. You must also have in mind exactly what it is you want from your CCTV system. The type of cameras for instance, internal, external, vandal resistant or possibly covert cameras, whether you want the cameras to be Mono or colour.
LENSESFixed Iris Lens - The lens can not be adjusted to alter the amount of light that it lets through the camera. The Manual Iris Lens - By manually adjusting the "iris ring" on the lens you can alter the amount of light that it lets through the camera. The Auto Iris Lens - The lens and the camera work together to continuously and automatically optimise the amount of light allowed through to the camera by controlling the lens iris using a small electronic motor built into the lens. Auto Iris Lenses come in two types, video and direct drive. The Video Drive lens type has a built in electronic amplifier that is required to correctly control the opening and closing of the lens. The Direct Drive Lens type relies on the camera having a build in amplifier to control the opening and closing of the lens iris which means that Direct Drive Lenses are usually cheaper than the Video Drive Lens.
Another important factor is how the camera is to protected or "housed" i.e. is the camera going to be sited internally or externally. There are many ways to "house" a camera from the very basic plastic or stainless steel wall brackets to the more intricate full vandal resistant cover with heating system.
The development of Time Lapse VCR's and video multiplexers enabled recording of the output of multi-cameras (typically up to 16) on to a single videotape and the display of a number of these cameras onto a monitor. This has enabled the operator to view several areas simultaneously and then select an individual view for more detailed analysis. The multiplexer has revolutionised the CCTV market making surveillance more affordable and has been one of the key drivers in expanding CCTV usage.
