As a caring family run company, we know all too well just how important it is to feel “safe and secure” within your own home.

Falls and the injuries they cause are of major medical importance to the elderly. The consequences of a fall in the elderly can be serious. Perhaps one in 10 falls results in serious injuries, with up to  1% of falls resulting in a broken hip and a further 5% resulting in other broken bones.  The injuries elderly people sustain result in impaired movement and life quality, and the pain and disability can continue for a median of seven months in 40% of elderly people going to hospital after a fall.

Although we would love to be able to have at our fingertips equipment which would prevent such distressing circumstances, we are only able to offer a solution which can ensure that help is always at hand just by the push of a button should the need ever arise.

The Sayphone dispersed alarm unit provides peace of mind for people living independently in non sheltered housing by providing an alert and response system by which help can be summoned 24 hours a day, every day of the year.

The Sayphone dispersed alarm unit is easy to install and is connected to a standard telephone socket.  The Sayphone has been designed to maximum reliability and can be either table or wall mounted.

A standard telephone can be placed on top of the case and plugged into a standard socket on the rear panel.  The power supply is via a transformer from an ordinary 240v wall socket.

The radio pendant is uniquely programmed to each individual Sayphone. When you make a call a red light will illuminate on the pendant to confirm that the pendant has operated correctly and reassurance bleeps will sound to confirm that the call is being progressed.

The Radio Pendant is waterproof and in can be worn in a shower. Full immersion is not recommended so it would have to placed nearby when taking a bath.

The battery in the pendant is checked each time it is used.  If the battery level is low it will still signal an alarm but the indicator light will not illuminate (this saves power).  the reassurance bleep will change to indicate a low battery level. The pendant allows you to summon help whenever you need it.

The Sayphone can be used to answer normal incoming telephone calls without lifting the handset. It is also not necessary to turn the Sayphone off if you are going away from home, the unit uses very little power and should be left on if possible.

The Tynetec Sayphone dispersed alarm unit has a number of unique features designed to improve the service offered to users.  Alarm calls can be directed to any telephone (standard or mobile) or to a dedicated alarm receiving centre (ARC).

Two versions of the Sayphone are available:-

STANDARD VERSION

The standard version uses DTMF signalling to identify the location and type of event which has triggered the alarm.  The standard version has the capability to direct calls to a telephone (standard or mobile) but, because the telephone does not have a facility to decode digital data, the location and event type which has triggered the alarm will not be known.  This situation can be mitigated by using  a CLI display module with a standard telephone which will show the location only, similarly a mobile telephone will automatically show the location.  the standard version will normally be used where a dedicated ARC is used.

SPEECH VERSION

The speech version of the Sayphone has a dual alarm signalling capacity.  The DTMF signalling capability is retained for applications where signalling to a dedicated ARC is used.  When signalling to a telephone (standard or mobile) a synthesised speech message is used to identify both the location and type of event which ahs triggered the alarm.  the speech version will normally be used where the first option is for signalling to a telephone and the reserve option is to a dedicated ARC.

A number of different types of alarm calls can be signalled from a Sayphone:

MANUALLY ACTIVATED

Front Panel Trigger
Radio Trigger
External Wired Trigger (Ceiling Pullcord)

AUTOMATICALLY  ACTIVATED

Smoke Detector (externally wired or radio)
PIR Detector (internal, externally wired or radio)
The above can be used to signal activity or intruder depending on configuration
Radio Trigger Low Battery Warning
Mains Failure (signals a random delay)
Sayphone Standby Battery Low (battery is automatically tested every 24 hours
Hypothermia
